The Regional "Prosperity League"
What is watched gets done; what is
measured gets done better.
Have you a wondered how it is that we have developed
such detailed score keeping systems for all kinds of sports, but
we have hardly any idea how to relate invidual and organizational
performance to prosperity?
For example, during the professional baseball
season we are measuring and tracking all kinds of individual results,
team results and even how the league as a whole is doing with respect
to attendance and revenues.
Does that mean that prosperity is less important?
Or, does it mean that we don't have a good measurement system and/or
know who is reponsible and accountable?
The Prosperity Score Keeping System
To be effective in implementing a successful
economic development strategy based on the Rapid Business Growth
Initiative model it is critical to maintain a public online regional
prosperity score keeping system. Such a system should make it possible
for any resident of an area to find out on a current basis what
and how individuals, organizations and communities are doing with
respect to prosperity.
Who are the responsible players and how are
they performing? What are the different "teams" doing
and how are they performing?
Business Growth Partners will assist its clients
in developing and executing a well-defined measurement system that
will help program participants and the public keep track of results.
In many areas certain relevant results are already
being measured, such as jobs, income, business activity and other
demographic and economic statistics. What is not being measured
as well is the individual and organizational performance that create
income, jobs, etc. The Forum for Growth Action
Plan is a start toward identifying what can be done to increase
prosperity, who is responsible, and what will get done when.
Regional Prosperity Is a Cooperative Game
One very good thing about prosperity is that
it is a cooperative game, which means that we can all benefit from
working together. Prosperity is also a "non-zero sum"
game. That means that by increasing the size of one person's pie,
we don't have to decrease the size of somobody else's pie.
